Summer Rain

Juicy, sweet sugarsnap peas

My best day of the summer, so far!  This afternoon, while I was harvesting garlic, it started pouring rain for about a half hour, finally giving the ground a decent soak.  I enjoyed it so much that I just kept working in the rain and puddles.  The lightning was a bit intense at times, but that cool rain just felt great.  And the veggies out in the fields probably enjoyed it at least as much as I did! Plant starts available this week

It is finally planting season in the Upper Peninsula!  If you are a gardener in need of some plant starts, there are two ways to purchase plant starts from Dukes Farm this season:

  1. Check out our new online shop. First, see what varieties we have available for the week using our Plant Start Sale List.  Then you can purchase the number of “6 packs” or “singles” that you want in the store.  If you purchase an entire flat (6 “6 packs” or 18 “singles”) we will apply a 10% discount to your order.
  2. Peruse our selection at the first farmers’ market of the season.  Starting May 25, we will be at the Downtown Marquette Farmers’ Market every Saturday through October, from 9am to 1pm.  The per flat discount of 10% also can be used at the farmers’ market.
