We are not offering our weekly CSA for the 2024 season. We are still offering our food storage boxes this year. We will list other products as the season progresses. If you want a salsa, sauce, pesto or pickle box, check out our Food Storage Boxes page.
In our 18th season doing CSAs, we are offering Salad CSAs as a bi-weekly option, starting in June. Order one today on our shop page.
We also offer a SNAP-only CSA that you can find on our SNAP page. You can also use SNAP benefits to purchase a Salad CSA, Food Storage Box, or any of our food products (more to come as the season begins).
The Salad CSA includes all kinds of salad veggies, such as lettuce, tomatoes, cucumbers, radishes, scallions, peppers, and more. It has a focus on salad veggies.
What is a CSA? The acronym stands for “Community Supported Agriculture,” a subscription practice invented by Booker T. Whatley, an Alabama horticulturist and professor. What he called “clientele membership clubs” in the 1960s (to help Black farmers who were often denied farming loans and grants) are now called CSAs and allow farmers to sell produce in advance to subscription members. Members get shares of the produce throughout the growing season.
You can order your CSA by using our online store, and you will hear from us soon!
The Salad CSA is only $40 a week for a Large Box, $30 a week for a Medium Box and $20 a week for a Small Box:
CSA customers can choose either a Regular or Small CSA. The Regular CSA comes in a 3/4 bushel box, and the Small CSA comes in a 1/2 bushel box.
Weather permitting, the Salad CSA starts the week of June 19 and goes until the last week in September (we may offer an extension depending on how kind the weather is to our crops that time of year!).
You get a Salad CSA every other week during the growing season, for a total of 8 weeks.
Some features of the Salad CSA box:
- Includes salad items, such as: lettuces, spinach, radishes, scallions, carrots, peppers, tomatoes, arugula, kale
- Includes an add-on option for prepared foods for each CSA week, such as salad dressings.
- The freshest produce available, every CSA during the season.
- CSA members will also be able to have other seasonal prepared foods delivered along with their CSA.
We believe Dukes Farm’s weekly box stands out for a number of reasons:
- An affordable price on fresh local produce
- We prioritize heritage vegetable varieties and other varieties that taste better and are more nutritious
- We focus on the cleanliness of the produce
- We have experience doing weekly vegetable CSAs since 2006
- Every vegetable that should be fresh is delivered to members fresh.
